Sustainable change can only be achieved if knowledge is passed on. That is why Green Cross Switzerland trains local specialists such as orthopaedic technicians, health workers and psychologists.

In remote regions in particular, the training of health workers as part of Commune Based Rehabilitation (CBR) is crucial. They recognise illnesses at an early stage, inform families about their rights and provide support in everyday life.

Since 2004, Swiss experts have also been travelling regularly to Vietnam to treat complex cases together with local specialists and pass on their knowledge in seminars. Green Cross provides the infrastructure, materials and logistics for this.

One example of successful knowledge transfer is the Huong Sen Hospital, where children with cerebral palsy, autism or speech disorders are treated. Swiss specialists introduced the gentle Ponseti method for treating clubfoot there – a procedure that now enables many children to live a pain-free life.
